Basketball season is over. The boys were awesome and had a great time. Weston is a defensive machine! Mac had several triple doubles. As I watch the Spurs losing while writing this post, I think that maybe they could use some help from my two basketball stars. Couldn't be any worse than what I am watching right now. Ha!
Ok, so I think we jetted through February. One of the highlights was Valentine's Day. Trey and I and 4 other couples had the highest bid on a progressive dinner at a silent auction we attended back in December. We decided to cash it in on the 14th. We met the limo ( a stretch Excursion, wow!) and went to the first house for appetizers. Yummy! Then, the treat. The limo took us to the Berclair Mansion in big Berclair, TX. We had dinner there as well as dessert. The mansion was open just for us. We even got the HAUNTED tour. Spooky.... It was wonderful night with my Valentine and our friends. I think we might try to do that again next year.
The five of us headed to San Antonio for the annual stock show and rodeo. We watched Extreme Bull Riding this year and stayed for the concert. We had super seats, thanks to Ms. Cindy and loved the action right at eye level. The concert was great, and we really enjoyed seeing my cousin play in the band. He is a drummer and a darn good one if I do say so myself. This is an annual trip for us, and we do enjoy S.A.L.E. Trey and I both received college scholarships from S.A.L.E., so we want the boys to understand how important it is to support the show. Maybe one day our boys will be honored with a scholarship from them as well.
March. Man, March could not have been any busier. Our local fair is smack in the middle of March, and this year it was in conjunction with spring break. Ugh!! No break for any of us involved in the fair, which goes on for four days! The boys did great. Their food items did not make the auction this year, but they did get blue ribbons. They did, however, rock in the heifer project. Mac had Grand Champion Spring Heifers and Weston had the 4th place pen of Fall heifers. Mac won a belt buckle for this accomplishment. He loves that! Then out of 17 pens of heifers, Mac was Reserve Champion overall and Weston was 4th overall. Not bad for some WY and WAW born heifers. They also did well in the auction and now have more $$$ added to their college fund.
Walker did a great job in the Pee Wee goat show. His goat's name is Taylor and she did a pretty good job of behaving for him. Walker was a hit in the ring and made the top four. He also was HI-larious. Everyone could hear him hollering at the goal anytime she moved. "WHOA Taylor" was hollered many times. Trey and I were so proud of him. That was a big goat, don't ya think?
They boys and I have been busy preparing for the ever-so-necessary taks test that the state gives. I am the campus coordinator. BUSY! The boys have done extremely well so far on their first tests. Math for Weston and Science for Mac next week. Good luck!
Relay for Life happened April 4th and 5th. I am in charge of luminarias for the event. BUSY, again! I have a great support system in place for this and things went oh so smoothly thanks to all of the help. When you prepare and set our 4,000 bags with sand and candles in them, you really need to have a good plan and good help. It was a wonderful night, and I am so proud of our family team, Oma's Army, for raising over $3,000. My mom and Trey's cousin Susan each earned the $1,000 t-shirt for their hard work. Mac and Wes walked for their 4-H club's team. Overall, our little community raised over $71,000 for cancer research. Awesome!
Walker is still hilarious and making huge leaps at his pre-school. He is writing his name very well and trying to read. Yea! His birthday is next month, and he is excited about being 5. Oh, to be five again! He knows that when he is five he gets to go to the big school with mom and the brothers. I will have all three of my guys in the same place with me everyday starting in August. But only for one year. Mac will be in sixth grade in the fall, and then he will go to the next campus in 7th grade. AND, can I just say that my oldest baby is so not a baby anymore. I can't find any baby cheeks, baby smile or baby fat on him. He is officially taller than his mother. Yup, a whole 1/2 inch taller. Sigh......I am having growing pains!!! Any advice on raising a pre-teen?
Ok, I think that about sums up the last few months. I'll do better. I hope. You would think that summer would be slower and I'll have more time, but I'm just warning you that this is so not true. We have lots of plans already. Summer is booked! But I'm ready for it to go ahead and get here.
