How Tall?????

One of the rather tall teachers at school today said,"Well, it's official Karie. Mac is taller than I am." Now, she's tall (relative to me). So when I told this bit of info to Trey he suggested we do a height check. Here are the results

Walker.............4 foot 1 inches (grew 3 1/2 inches in 1 year)
Weston............4 foot 10 1/2 inches (grew 2 1/2 inches in 1 year)
Mac..................5 foot 9 inches ( grew 4 inches in 1 year) He's 5'9 1/2" in boots

Now, I don't know about you or your kids, but my 5, almost 10 and most definetely 12 year old ...... yeah, they're tall!!! Mac passed my up a loooooong time ago and Weston is chasing me. Think about it. If Mac grows 4 inches again in the coming year, he will be 6'2" in the 7th grade! Holy guacamole!!!!

Tall people make me happy...........especially the tall people I gave birth to!!!

Makes me smile =)

Walker has provided us, the family, and Mrs. Lala, the teacher (have I told you how much we LOVE Mrs. Lala?) with several smiles lately. He is so clever.

Last week he was having a difficult time paying attention in class, daydreaming and such. One particular day he had to pull a color for daydreaming a little too much, but had pulled it together by the end of the day, so Mrs. Lala dismissed the color change and proceeded to put a happy face stamp in his daily behavior log. She saw him really studying his chart and asked him what he was doing. Here is the conversation:

Mrs. L : "Walker, what are you looking at?"

Walker: "Oh, I'm just checking out my options."

What? Options? Where did you learn that word? And what ARE your options pray-tell?

Mrs. Lala got a good laugh out of this conversation, too:

After watching Walker for several minutes, Mrs Lala decided he must have something on his mind as it appeared he was pondering something.

Mrs. L: "Walker, what are you thinking about?"

Walker: "Well Mrs. Lala, I think I figured out why I wasn't paying attention the other day."

Mrs. L: "Really, Walker? Tell me what it was."

Walker: "My dad forgot to give me my vitamin. I need my vitamin to pay attention."

Oh if only a vitamin would solve all my problems so easily!!!

And tonight, I had a great laugh courtesy of Mr. One-Liner himself!

Walker: "Mom, can I have the last piece of cake now? I ate all my supper."

Me: "Let me see how big it is.....Okay, but don't eat it all. Save some for me, alright?"

WAlker: "You got it Mom."

10 minutes later he comes into the room I'm in carrying the EMPTY container, but before I even realize he's there or that he's eaten all of the cake, he walks up to me and says.....

"Sorry Mom, I didn't hear what you said." Hee, hee! Big cheesy smile!

I busted out laughing....what else could I do?

And to boot, about 15 minutes after that......

Walker: "Mom. Knock Knock."

Me: "Who's there?"

Walker: "Sorry Mom, I didn't hear what you said."

Hardy Har Har!!!!

Assorted

We have been all ahead full steam since the new year. What's new?! The years are starting to run together. Anyway, since my last post we have celebrated my grandmother's (aka Mirna) 78th birthday. The guys and I let her choose where she would like to eat for the evening. In true Mirna fashion, she asked the boys where they would like to eat. Anytime there is a discussion about where to eat in G-town the vote usually goes something like this:

Weston: "I want Wanda's" (Mexican food---his favorite)
Mac: "No, I want to go to Weesatche" (you know that place, our favorite Friday night spot)
Walker: "Why do we have to go somewhere? It will take forever! Let's stay home, okay guys."

We ended up going to Weesatche with a little persuasion of the voting. The food was great and Mirna got a HUGE slice of carrot cake for the traditional birthday celebration. Love you Mirna!!
May this year bring you much much happiness!

Yes, the building is old. No, it is not leaning.
For some reason they all leaned to the left. Ha!

It was Mrs. Lala's class to lead the pledges over morning announcements this week and Walker was S-O excited. He told Trey at breakfast on Wednesday morning, "Dad we have to hurry. I don't want to be late or I won't get my turn to do pledges." That boy was itching to talk on the intercom. I can't imagine why. He hates to talk on a microphone. Ha! I made sure to get pictures of the big event. You can tell from the smile on his face he was eating it up!

Waiting his turn.

Walker spoke last, so he got to tell everyone to
"rise for the pledges".

Today our 4-H club sponsored a stew lunch to raise money for our Relay for Life team. It was a great success. The kids helped a little and played alot, especially climbing a big oak tree. Fun, fun memories! Weston looked so sweet I couldn't pass up this photo opp!

My little "sweet cheeks"

No school for us tomorrow! The boys and I will be looking for basketball shoes. Yes, it's already that time of year again! Didn't I just blog about that not too long ago?

Friday Night Slumber Party

Mac and Weston are at a cousin's birthday party tonight so Walker feels a little left out. The big boys are going on a zip line and jousting in a bounce house. Those aren't Walker type things. So he decided that we should have our own slumber party in the living room. I made a fluffy palette on the floor for him, but he quickly pointed out that he was going to sleep on the couch. Um...okay. I can still sleep on the floor without too much creaking and cracking in the morning. I think!!

We watched some Disney channel and I quickly fell asleep only to awoken by a little boy oonchin his way off the couch and onto the palette beside me. So we switched places and both went to sleep. It was a sweet slumber party, just the two of us.

BRRRRR it has been in the 20's here and we are not used to that. We are all staying bundled up and doing lots of snuggling. Now that I can get used to.

Happy New Year....finally

It's been a year since I've started this blog! Wow! That was a fast year! It is going to be so wonderful to look back over these posts in a few years and see how the boys have grown and what they did at these ages. This is such a great tool for documenting our lives, and so much easier than scrapbooking (which I loved to do but have not time for....or the space for.).

We had such a nice, relaxing time with my brother and his family, my parents and Mirna. We left early New Year's Day and drove to Dallas in time for lunch. Mac slept the entire way there and Weston gave his best effort in the sleep dept, too. Walker? Well Walker did not shut his eyes. He was so excited to be leaving for Dallas in the dark and didn't want to miss the experience. Isn't that cute?

We enjoyed spending time together, watching movies, playing games, eating and listening to music. We didn't really go anywhere or do anything and it was great; the perfect way to end our Christmas vacation.

Walker and Hudson got along so well. The age gap is starting to close. Walker is more accepting of Hudson (ya know, since Walker is used to being the baby and all) and Hudson was so, so so excited to have "the kids" at his house to play with. Mac and Wes were so sweet with him, pushing him in the swing and chasing him around the yard. We just love that little guy!

A picture of all 4 boys... not as easy to get as it looks.

Hudson and my dad

Such a ham!

You can just barely see Mac behind Walker.

Weston sporting his 3rd Fox cap of the Christmas season.

Such a big Mac.

Hudson got a Sit 'n Spin from us. I hope he likes it.

Walker was SOOO excited to get a Leapster 2 from my mom (in the background)

Cheese! And those cheeks!!!! sa-weet!

Walker got a real guitar from my dad. He looks so natural. Now to get real lessons.

Hudson was a pro at opening presents.
