We have been all ahead full steam since the new year. What's new?! The years are starting to run together. Anyway, since my last post we have celebrated my grandmother's (aka Mirna) 78th birthday. The guys and I let her choose where she would like to eat for the evening. In true Mirna fashion, she asked the boys where they would like to eat. Anytime there is a discussion about where to eat in G-town the vote usually goes something like this:

Weston: "I want Wanda's" (Mexican food---his favorite)
Mac: "No, I want to go to Weesatche" (you know that place, our favorite Friday night spot)
Walker: "Why do we have to go somewhere? It will take forever! Let's stay home, okay guys."

We ended up going to Weesatche with a little persuasion of the voting. The food was great and Mirna got a HUGE slice of carrot cake for the traditional birthday celebration. Love you Mirna!!

It was Mrs. Lala's class to lead the pledges over morning announcements this week and Walker was S-O excited. He told Trey at breakfast on Wednesday morning, "Dad we have to hurry. I don't want to be late or I won't get my turn to do pledges." That boy was itching to talk on the intercom. I can't imagine why. He hates to talk on a microphone. Ha! I made sure to get pictures of the big event. You can tell from the smile on his face he was eating it up!

Today our 4-H club sponsored a stew lunch to raise money for our Relay for Life team. It was a great success. The kids helped a little and played alot, especially climbing a big oak tree. Fun, fun memories! Weston looked so sweet I couldn't pass up this photo opp!

No school for us tomorrow! The boys and I will be looking for basketball shoes. Yes, it's already that time of year again! Didn't I just blog about that not too long ago?

Friday Night Slumber Party

Mac and Weston are at a cousin's birthday party tonight so Walker feels a little left out. The big boys are going on a zip line and jousting in a bounce house. Those aren't Walker type things. So he decided that we should have our own slumber party in the living room. I made a fluffy palette on the floor for him, but he quickly pointed out that he was going to sleep on the couch. Um...okay. I can still sleep on the floor without too much creaking and cracking in the morning. I think!!

We watched some Disney channel and I quickly fell asleep only to awoken by a little boy oonchin his way off the couch and onto the palette beside me. So we switched places and both went to sleep. It was a sweet slumber party, just the two of us.

BRRRRR it has been in the 20's here and we are not used to that. We are all staying bundled up and doing lots of snuggling. Now that I can get used to.

Happy New Year....finally

It's been a year since I've started this blog! Wow! That was a fast year! It is going to be so wonderful to look back over these posts in a few years and see how the boys have grown and what they did at these ages. This is such a great tool for documenting our lives, and so much easier than scrapbooking (which I loved to do but have not time for....or the space for.).

We had such a nice, relaxing time with my brother and his family, my parents and Mirna. We left early New Year's Day and drove to Dallas in time for lunch. Mac slept the entire way there and Weston gave his best effort in the sleep dept, too. Walker? Well Walker did not shut his eyes. He was so excited to be leaving for Dallas in the dark and didn't want to miss the experience. Isn't that cute?

We enjoyed spending time together, watching movies, playing games, eating and listening to music. We didn't really go anywhere or do anything and it was great; the perfect way to end our Christmas vacation.

Walker and Hudson got along so well. The age gap is starting to close. Walker is more accepting of Hudson (ya know, since Walker is used to being the baby and all) and Hudson was so, so so excited to have "the kids" at his house to play with. Mac and Wes were so sweet with him, pushing him in the swing and chasing him around the yard. We just love that little guy!

Archery was Awesome

Another sport has also been finished for 2009....archery. I have to say I enjoyed watching the boys learn about this sport. They have really learned about patience, perseverance and setting goals.

Weston finished the season with a 1st place win at the District Tournament. I'm not sure how many were in his group, but I know it was more than 8. He also graduated at this tournament, shooting a 252. This means next year he gets to shoot 18 meters! Way to go Dead Eye!!!
Mac did a great come-back job at district. He had a frustrating first round, but came alive the 2nd half. He shot a 332 and placed 4th out of a large class! GOOD shooting!!!



The boys have also made a very special friend. Kayla is such a great person and she has taught them so much this year. She is one of the best archers (is that the right word?) in the country, that's right, I mean USA, and she just so happens to live in our town. She is one of the best young people I have had the opportunity to know. She graduates in May and heads to Aggieland (another reason we like her so much!). We will really miss her next year, but look forward to seeing her at Aggie football games! Love you Kayla!!!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas has almost come and gone for the boys this year. We made a big day of it on the 25th with Santa, Trey's family and then Trey's extended family. My family Christmas is this weekend at my brother's in Dallas. We may have to drive 5 1/2 hours, but it is possible we may see snow this weekend!!! That would be so exciting for the boys. The last time we saw snow was the Christmas Snow Miracle in 2004. Walker was only 7 months old and was sick with a bad cold. But it was beautiful! I'll never forget Weston, who was only 4, standing in thigh-high snow crying and blubbering "I can't feel my legs!" The boys got a four wheeler that year and it was so awesome riding it all over the place in snow! Wow!!!

Okay~~~back to the present. And speaking of presents....the boys got lots of great gifts this year. Here is a recap:

Traditions are big in our family. Every Christmas break, the boys and I bake and decorate sugar cookies for Santa and lots of other yummy sweets (fondant and fudge and apple pie for Trey). We also go to Christmas Eve services at church and look forward to singing Silent Night by candle light. The boys also get new Christmas pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve

Weston had a very hard time falling asleep this year. Last time I checked it was after 1 a.m. and he was still awake!!! I just kept shaking my head and reminding him "Santa can't come if you are still awake, and Santa is getting very TIRED ya know. He has lots of presents to deliver and you are getting him off schedule." He finally got settled, but was in my bed at 6:26! Talk about anxious! We made him stay in bed with us until about 7:30.

I'm looking forward to enjoying the weekend with my family and celebrating the season together. I am, however, sick of eating!!!! Got my New Year's resolution ready!!!

I thought football was over???

We got out for the holidays on December 18 and that night both big boys had the first of 2 football games for the youth football All Star League. It was R-E-A-L-L-Y cold that night (relatively speaking for south Texas weather). It was fun to watch the boys play in a big stadium with kids from much bigger schools. Both teams came up short on the scoreboard.

The second day was really pretty and not as cold. Weston's team played great but came up short again. Mac's team pulled it together and played super, winning 40-18. Mac even made a touchdown, catching a pass in the end zone and blocked for two other touchdowns! Go Tigers!!!

We are officially done with youth football for the year! And Mac is officially done with youth football forever!!!! Look out middle school football!

Music runs in the Family

NOTE:
I have tried since December 12th to post the following post with the video. However, it just hasn't worked~~~therefore all you get is pictures. Trust me.....it was priceless!

Music runs deep in my family on both sides. My grandfathers could sing & play the guitar or fiddle. My dad is awesome! He can play so many instruments and can sing. My uncles also amaze me with their musical talents. Walker seems to be following in their footsteps. The entire kindergarten class presented a Christmas musical, and he had a solo performance. In the play, he and a few other boys were the "naughty cousins" so the song Walker sang was about Santa not coming to his house because he is "such a rotten kid." All of the stockings are empty. Too cute! This was his debut. Maybe one day we'll say "remember his first performance...."




It was a busy weekend full of parties and plays. Last night was the 2nd annual Boots & Boas Gala hosted by our Education Foundation. What a fun night and such a worthy cause....support for quality education.

This morning the children in our church put on the Christmas play. All three boys had a part and did fabulous. Nothing more important at this time of year than to celebrate the season for its true meaning.

Now it's on to a 4-H meeting. This is the last week of school. I have GOT to do some shopping!!!!
