Weesatche's Got Talent

Walker had his first paying gig last night at the Weesatche Dancehall. I wish I had a picture of it. Last night we went back to our favorite winding-down-for-the-week place with some friends. Remember last week's post? Twice this month already!

Well, last night there was a karaoke machine set up in the dance hall and a pretty good singer providing entertainment for everyone. The kids had a BLAST dancing to the cupid shuffle, cha cha slide and the macarena. Before I knew it, someone comes in the cafe and says, "You better hurry in here, Walker's about to sing!"

Yup, my baby boy was on stage belting out hillbilly deluxe and loving every note! He knows all the words. The best part was during the intrumentals. He would clap his hands above his head and everyone else joined him! It was one of those moments when you rush the stage to get closer to your favorite band or singer! Smiles, singing along, whoops and hollers!

Walker got lots of pats on the back and handshakes when he finished. He walked off the stage like it was no big deal, like it is something he does all the time. AND he made $2! He thought that was the best part. Someone gave him a tip for singing so well. What a little showman!

When he got back in the cafe, someone asked him to run for county judge! Hmmmm........politician or famous country singer?

Bullseye!!

The next phase in the boys' 4-H career is now archery. Weston really wanted to join last year, but football was new to us then and we were only up to one new thing at a time. Now that we've got football down, Weston got his wish to try out archery. He's only been to 3 practices and is shooting great. He was right about choosing this project. He is a natural and is very excited about it. Today, the leader singled him out to be the "dealer" in the 21 game. He shot 21!!!! I'm so excited for him to be involved in this and to be good at it. He needs this!!!

Last night after the Weston's football game in Yorktown, which they won 33-0, some of us headed to Weesatche for supper. You can usually find us there at least once a month. It is the old dance hall and a great place to eat. The kids play pool, fooze ball and the jukebox. It's a great family friendly place to relax and enjoy a cold one and a good meal.

Walker really likes it because the owner lets him crush cans. Well last night she let him help her on the cash register. Trey went over to him and said he needed come sit down, but Walker said, "No, Dad. I work here!" And that was that....he helped check people out. He is such a politician!

Friday night was homecoming. We lost, booo! But we had fun sitting by our friends. Weston and Hayden are so silly when they get together.

Mac's team played Cuero Green and won 35-6! He played great and we are so excited to win! This week he plays here and Weston is out of town.

Oh, one other thing. I'm writing this so that I don't forget this time in Mac's life. He was given his first homecoming garter this week. A sweet girl in his class, Kyndal, gave it to him. In return he gave her a mum that she could wear like a wrist corsage. My boy is growing up!!!

Oh the Elementary Bug!

If you've never experienced it, congratulations! Got kids fixing to be in school? Get ready. The elementary bug is going around and I got it. When mama is not well, the whole house suffers. I got the bug late Thursday and have been down all weekend. I did manage to go to Weston's game but felt terrible when it was over even though they won in a shut out 19-0 against the undefeated team from last year. Go Big Blue!!! Poor Trey just can't handle me being sick. He just isn't complete when I'm not "available" to help, give info or run interference. Anyone else's hubby like this? I am so lucky though to have Mirna who steps right in with the boys and takes care of their needs while I recover. Love ya Mirn!!!

Mac played in another town at the same time Weston played here. They didn't win, but Trey said Mac was great. Maybe this weekend will be better.

Today was the first 4-H meeting of the year. Boy has our club grown and BOY OH BOY is it full of BOYS!!!! We may need to change our club name to something much more "manly." Ha!

Walker lost a 2nd tooth today. He was sitting in the living room and Mirna asked what he was looking for. He said, "my tooth" and sure enough it was sitting on the carpet right beside him. He was so excited! The old pro that he is just marched into his room, found his tooth fairy pillow and proceeded to put everything where it belonged. Wonder what the tooth fairy will bring this time?

The big boys are at their cousins' house tonight watching WWE and eating sausauge. Can I get an AAGGGHHH AAGGHHH or whatever it was that Tim Allen used to say!

Here's to everyone's health and that the elementary bug doesn't invade your home and stays away from mine for a while!!!

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y

That's the Tiger's battle cry!!!

Warming up.

Enjoying his team's victory!

Tigers, Tigers, Tigers.....raaaah~

Mac and Wes were awesome on the football field! They played strong on the line both sides of the ball. Mac sacked the QB several times and Wes was in on a few himself. Mac caught a pass for a two point conversion. Wes did a great job kicking yesterday (even though he said he didn't like the tee they used). It was a complete shut out in both games. Wes' team won 28-0 and Mac's was 35-0. Looks like the start to a great season.

Enjoy the pics. More from Weston's game next week. I'll have to send my camera with Haley to Mac's game since the boys will be playing in different towns next weekend.

Weston is on the far left.

Kickoff. Weston did a great job.

Mac is #11. "get out of my way"
You can't see it in this small scale, but the boy on the left has a
look of fear on his face. Mac is coming right at him!
Trey says this is the perfect picture. The line is doing exactly
what he taught them. Mac is on the right.

The "coach" was checking out the play.
He also doubled as water boy.

The Toothless Wonder

My baby just lost his first tooth! This is a big moment in history. At least in the history of Walker. Now, when we discovered that said tooth was loose, Walker was very upset! His exact words were "I don't want to loose any teeth. They need to stay right where they are. Call the dentist tomorrow and tell him to fix my tooth!" Needless to say, we didn't make a big deal about the loose tooth for quite some time. In fact, just last week I noticed how loose it really was. By then Walker was used to messing with it. Yesterday morning, I wiggled it and it was barely hanging on. He wouldn't let me pull it, so I sent him on to class knowing that some time during the day, it was coming out.

At about 10:00 while I was talking on the phone with Trey, Walker and Mrs. Lala (have I mentioned we love her) proudly walked into my office displaying big grins and a baggie was a tooth! All four of us were so excited!

Last night Walker put his tooth in the Tooth Fairy pillow and off to sleep he went. Trey woke him this morning to check for his tooth. What a nice tooth fairy. She left Walker $1.50 for his tooth.

This is the first of many teeth to make their way to Tooth Fairy Land. It's good to know that Walker isn't scarred for life because of a lost tooth. Growing up is hard work!
